Mutual insurance
Check with your mutual insurance company to find out what reimbursements you may be entitled to.
VUB/UZ Brussel staff
For VUB and UZ Jette staff the health insurance Van Breda covers all costs (dentist VUB, physiotherapist VUB, BRUCC, ...) that aren’t covered by your regular health insurance. Up to €250/calendar year for psychological help offered by BRUCC.
Eerstelijnsconventie voor psychologische hulp
From October 2023, some co-contracted psychologists within BRUCC provide first-line services specifically targeting young adults (ages +16) with mild to moderate mental health concerns. The goal is to prevent later-life complaints with a short-term and preventive program. The agreement includes individual consultations and group sessions at affordable rates
The only requirement is that you are affiliated with a mutual insurance company. Under the agreement, you will pay 11 euros per session for a consultation with a co-contracted psychologist (4 euros with increased assistance) and 2.5 euros for a group session. Based on the registration form and the intake process, BRUCC will determine whether you are eligible for this service and whether you require more specialized care.
Given the maximum number of hours allocated, we cannot guarantee that every registration will be able to start within this system.
Terms of payment and cancellation
Terms of payment
1.1. Individual, family or couples sessions
A session costs €86,69 per hour performed by the psychologist. The psychologist with whom you have an appointment will inform you about the payment method. There are differences here.
- If the psychologist is an employee of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the payment is made via Bancontact or Payconiq
- When the psychologist is self-employed, payment by bank transfer, app, or cash is possible. However, this depends on the psychologist, who will inform you about this.
1.2 Trainings
A candidate is admitted to a training if the trainer has reported this by telephone or e-mail. A candidate is registered as soon as he/she confirms by e-mail to BRUCC that he/she will participate in this training. The participant will receive an email with information about the payment method. Payment for a training is done online within a specified period.
1.3. Lectures
One is registered for a lecture from the moment the online payment is in order. Payment must be made at the latest two days before the lecture.
Cancellation conditions
The following cancellation conditions apply as soon as one has registered for a training or lecture.
1.1. Cancellation by the participant
1.1.1. For an individual, family, or couples session
Please reschedule or cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance (directly to the consultant via email/telephone) if you cannot attend. If you do not notify or notify us too late, a fee of 40 euros will be charged by invoice. We wish to emphasize that in this case, we cannot draw up a certificate of consultation for you. This means that you are therefore not entitled to reimbursement from the health insurance fund or insurance. In the event of force majeure, such as illness or accident, this can of course be discussed with the consultant.
1.1.2. With a training
§1. Cancellation must always be done in writing by e-mail. The e-mail must be addressed to brucc@vub.be.
§2. Cancellation is only possible free of charge in the event of serious illness or accident of the participant, which jeopardizes full participation in the training. This must be done in writing immediately before the start of the training via email (to be addressed to brucc@vub.be and the trainer). The necessary certificates must be sent by post to:

After receiving, the certificates are assessed. If these fall under the conditions of a serious accident or serious illness of the participant, the full registration fee already paid will be refunded. Please note: Illness or accident, as a result of which one is only absent for part of the sessions, do not give rise to free cancellation.
§3. Cancellation for any other reason will result in the following arrangement:
- a. If the cancellation is made at least 14 calendar days before the start of the training, no registration fee is due.
- b. If the cancellation is made between 14 and 8 calendar days before the start of the course, 50% of the registration fee is due.
- c. In case of cancellation from 7 calendar days before the start of the course, 100% of the registration fee is due. If the registration fee has not yet been paid, you will receive an invoice by post.
1.1.3. With a lecture

1.2. Cancellation by BRUCC
§1. The Brussels University Consultation Center reserves the right to cancel an initiative for organizational reasons (e.g. due to too few participants) or to move it completely (e.g. due to illness of the teacher). All participants will be informed of this as soon as possible by e-mail or telephone. In this case, the participants will be refunded the full registration amount, if this has already been paid.
§2. If the Brussels University Consultation Center decides to move a complete training or lecture to another date, each participant can transfer his/her registration or cancel it free of charge, whereby the registration fee will be refunded in full.
§3. If one day in a multi-day training is moved, including illness of the trainer or organizational reasons, no refund of the training will be given.
