Over the last decades, public interest in burnout has grown considerably. While some speak of a burnout epidemic, others are still not sure whether it actually is a ‘real’ thing. In this workshop, we will give you an overview of what science has to say on the matter of burnout: We’ll start with its history to better understand where some of the confusion/uncertainty surrounding this phenomenon comes from. We’ll clarify what burnout looks like, differentiating between burnout complaints and clinical burnout. Our research group in particular focuses on burnout as a complex, dynamic system. What that means is that we investigate how burnout symptoms, job as well as personal characteristics relate, forming an interactive system. We’ll share our most recent insights with you. We will round off the session with some more practical advice for practitioners. This session should be helpful for you, and we do not want to tell you things that you already know. We, therefore, kindly ask you to submit any (burning) questions you might have beforehand here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/kcnMWSs4g9. You also have time at the end of the session to ask any additional questions.
